Fun fact time: many of my old acquaintances still make joking comments whenever they see me wearing pink, because as a child (and honestly pretty much right up to high school) I would refuse to associate with any pink objects.
It wasn’t because I didn’t like pink, it was because since I appeared female I was supposed to/ it was immediately assumed that I did and therefore it pissed me the ever-loving fuck off. I was ashamed to like it, which is terrible because pink is an awesome color. But when you shove it down young girls throats it gets really old, really fast.
Give the child the fucking rainbow, and if they pick pink, it’s not because they are female and/or effeminate, it’s because they like the color pink.

THIS.

Here’s a really interesting photo, an intern from Facebook wanted to examine the locality of friendships, pulling some data from Facebook he created this image. What’s incredible is that lines don’t represent coasts or rivers or political borders, but real human relationships. Each line is a friendship between two people, and with enough information these friendships give us a surprisingly accurate map of the world, minus Russia, apparently Facebook isn’t too big over there.

This was the source comic all along

I always feel sad when someone gets really familiar with a piece or a derivative of a work without knowing the original at all. I become INSTANTLY CURIOUS and seek out sources of things but I know everyone is not that way but still

Imagine a life of knowing the last panel and not knowing the BEAUTIFUL CONTEXT

it’s not a life I wanna live

I find that, when writing bios, it’s really helpful to look at a list or a chart like the one above. Picking two or three traits from each chart and building a character based around them will give you a really interesting bio, because they will serve as a reminder that characters need depth and dimension.

Independent and clever.

VS.

Independent, clever, pretentious, and stubborn.

The first combination doesn’t come with any flaws, whereas the second will provide a more dynamic character.

This is a good idea. However, I have two quibbles with it.

The first is that a lot of traits often are double-sided and can be taken both as positive and negative.
Take stubborn for example. Depending on the circumstances, it can be viewed as either “persistent” or “hardheaded”. Persistence may be annoying in some cases, but it’s basically a positive trait. Hardheadedness is usually viewed as negative.
Here’s another example: “lazy” can be seen as “laid-back” by some people, and “helpful” can be seen as “nosy”. So it’s all about perception.

My second quibble is that characteristics shouldn’t be taken as the characters’ life views or as the characters’ personalities. Characteristics are basically how a character is viewed (remember, it’s all about perception.), and their general behavior, not necessarily how they think or what they believe.
If you have a laid-back character, then they’re generally laid-back. Making them laid-back about everything, all the time, will actually backfire and make your character flat instead of richer. Please keep that in mind.
